How to choose the correct tartan fabric weight?

Choose tartan fabric based on your project: 11oz (Lightweight) is ideal for ties, scarves, and light drapery. 13oz (Mediumweight) is the standard for ladies' kilts and outerwear. 16oz (Heavyweight) is the traditional "Strome" weight required for mens' regulation kilts, as it provides the necessary durability and pleat retention.
