Black Watch

Regimental Motto: Nemo Me Impune Lacessit / No One Provokes Me With Impunity
The Black Watch tartan, or Government Sett, originated in 1725 with the formation of independent Highland companies to police the Highlands. As the senior Highland regiment, the Black Watch served in major campaigns including Fontenoy, the Crimea, and both World Wars. The dark colors of their uniform gave rise to their legendary Gaelic name, Am Freiceadan Dubh.
Associated Units: 3rd Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS), 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment, 73rd (Perthshire) Regiment
