What makes Harris Tweed® authentic?

To be legally defined as Harris Tweed®, the fabric must be 100% virgin wool, dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides, and handwoven by islanders at their homes. Every authentic garment must carry the Harris Tweed Orb Mark certification, a guarantee protected by the Harris Tweed Act of 1993.
